I started working at Montessori Learning Path in 1988. I am a Directress of one of the 3-6 programs. I also teach a p.m. class two days a week. I am married with two children. I enjoy the teaching profession and especially working with young children. I do enjoy having summers off. This gives me the opportunity to enjoy my hobbies: reading, gardening, traveling, and exercising.
This year marks my eleventh year at Montessori Learning Path! Most of my years here have been working alongside Ms. Mary in the 3-6 classroom (nine wonderful years to be exact), this year I am working in the office as the Secretary and in the lunch room as the Lunch Coordinator. I am married to Mark and we have two sons, Andrew and Brendan, both graduates of MLP. As a teen I lived in southern Germany and attended a private school for girls. Upon my return, I graduated from West High School and attended Rock Valley College majoring in Liberal Arts. My hobbies include, but are not limited to, knitting socks, scrapbooking, card making, and the discovery of organic foods and green living.
I am both the directress in the Two year old room and the 3-6 p.m. Montessori class. I have worked in Montessori for over 20 years. I began at Barrington Montessori in 1983. The majority of my Montessori teaching experience was spent at Buffalo Grove Montessori and then due to geographical relocation, on to Montessori Pathways in Crystal Lake working and learning from former and present MECA trainers and finally, I am resting here at Montessori Learning Path. Although I began my career in Montessori to give my three children a well rounded educational foundation, based on an internal love of learning, I find myself still here (as they have been long gone) to pass the same onto others. One thing I really love about my job is that no two days are EVER THE SAME!
I joined the Montessori Learning Path family as the Drawing Board Teacher for both the morning and afternoon classes during the 2005-06 school year. Prior to teaching here I worked with children ages birth to five years planning and implementing parent-child interaction groups through the Rockford Early Childhood Program for Families. I am a Rockford native, and being the second oldest of eight siblings have taken care of children in some capacity for much of my life. Family is very important to me. I am married and have three chldren of my own who are often consulted about which works and projects will be most appealing in the classroom. I particularly enjoy re-purposing items for decoration as well as function. Other interests include photography, books, gardening, bike riding, and shopping.
I am excited to start my fourth year at MLP. I have lived in Rockford my whole life, graduated from Auburn High School and then graduated from Rockford Business College. I am married and have two children, my son Tyler is now a MLP Alumni and I also have a daughter. During my free time, (if there is such a thing!) I enjoy spending time scrap booking, taking photos, and shopping.
It has always been my desire and intention to make a difference in children's lives. I hope I have done just that. Spending 12 years as a Director of a local center, implementing the curriculum and growing the enrollment from two to 230 took me into many situations, some not so comfortable. I am going into my 4th year at Montessori Learning Path and plan on staying, enriching the children's lives, as they have mine. I am married and have two children.
